Sandy is a Psychologist registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulatory Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists Institute (AAPI). Following her degree in Business, she later trained in Psychology in Queensland and NSW to gain her registration as a Psychologist. Through her work in the public and private mental health sectors, she developed expertise in Suicide prevention and in Mental health promotion/education (Post Graduate qualification).
With clients in her clinics, Sandy prides herself in being approachable and practical throughout the treatment offered, and to seek individualised solutions to a range of challenges: anxiety, trauma, self knowledge/shame, depression, stress, bullying, emotions/anger/grief, sleep, and suicidal thoughts.
Her training with diverse therapies includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (3rd wave CBT), a powerful new psychotherapy based on cutting-edge research into how the human mind works. It has been clinically proven to be successful in a wide range of psychological problems. The aim is to help create a rich, full and meaningful life (values) and teaching/practicing a set of practical skills to handle difficult situations, with a strong Mindfulness skill base.
She has also acquired specific training for Chronic pain, Gambling, Carers, with experience withWorkcover/DVA/MAIC. Through her work in the public and private mental health sectors, she also developed expertise in Suicide prevention and in Mental health promotion/education (Post Graduate qualification).
Sandy is interested in improving mental health through holistic approaches, including healthy behaviours behaviours, nutrition, and spiritual reflections and finding our own potential and purpose.
